Areas
Hello everyone; In this last part of the term we are going to work on areas (as I told you previously). I'm going to leave this video so that you can clarify any doubts you may have. Another resource you can use is the following website: www.thatquiz.org

Example: Divide 0.539 by 0.11
Hello everyone; check this example that will help you understand better. It is taken from www.mathisfun.com
Move the decimal point so the divisor (0.11) is a whole number:
move 2 spaces | ||||
0.539 | ![]() | 5.39 | ![]() | 53.9 |
0.11 | ![]() | 1.1 | ![]() | 11 |
move 2 spaces |
But what about 53.9? It still has a decimal point.
Well, we can ignore the decimal point in the dividend so long as we remember to put it back later. First we do the calculation without the decimal point:
049
11)539 0 53 44 99 99 0 |
Now put the decimal point in the answer directly above the decimal point in the dividend:
04.9
11)53.9 |
The answer is 4.9

Multiply Decimals
Hello everyone; remember that when you have to multiply decimals you must follow these steps:
3.12 X 4.2
- Count how many spaces there are after the decimal point in each number.
- Locate the number which has the most digits on top
- Multiply as if the point didn't exist.
- Locate the decimal point depending on how many spaces you had in each number.
3.12 X 4.2
- The first number has 2 spaces
- The second number has only one space
- There are 3 spaces in total
The answer is 13.104
Remember that a point is different from a coma.
